I find it really sad that little kids are treated this way in orphanages. I think that if the children are sent to those places because of different problems, they should be taken care of well. Its is inhuman to take them away from their parents and it's even worse to take them away to "take better care of them" when they are probably doing it worse than how the parents would if they had the chance. These children are not given the love and care they deserve. They never get what they need when they do. And then they can't blend in well with society when they get out because of this. It is a sad situation and it should stop.
With my school we visit every year an orphanage in christmas. It is a really nice experience but, one year we noticed that the kids never open or play with the toys, we asked them why and they told us that if they opened the toys and played with them they would be punished and they also told us that the people in the orphanage hit them. It is really sad because orphanages might be a help for the parents, but they are a danger to the kids who are living in there.
Eigen speaks mostly about Africa, can you think of some examples in Latin America where corruption may be leading to bad social results? Yes, Peru is an example where corruption is leading to bad social results. We have had a lot of corruption problems during the last years. Actually there are many examples in Latin america because almost all the countries have problems with corruption, which it is a very sad thing. Why do Northern countries think that bribery is ok in the developing world? What is the impact on the relationship between the producer companies and developing world in this scheme? They think that bribery is ok because they are used to see bribery every single day of their lifes. What does Eigan mean when he refers to "Soft Power" and "Civil Society"? When he refers to "Soft Power" he means that is a power that you have over something or someone but it is acceptable. Like just trying to convince them, not forcing them to do something they dont want to. And when he refers to "Civil Society" he means the people that dont work for the government or have contact with him. What presidential election will you first be eligible to vote in? In 2016 How important is the issue of corruption to you? For me, corruption is very very very very very very very very important because if we have a corrupted society people that dont deserve anything would have EVERYTHING and people who deserves everything would have NOTHING and thats a bad situation.
What are you prepared to do about it? I cant do anything about corruption but i can not be into it.
What did you do on the trip week? We visited museums and cultural places in Cliclayo. Was it fun/interesting/educational? It was fun because i was with my friends; interesting because it was the first time we did a trip like that and educational because we learned about the history of Chiclayo. What was the best part? The best part was our Halloween party, we had a rally good time. What was something you would change? Nothing, it was a really really nice trip.
What did you learn? I learned a lot about the ancient cultures like Lambayeque, Mochica and Chimu. I also learned about the "caballitos de totora" Would you like to do the same next year, or something similar/different? Yes, i would definetly love to travel again with all secondary and have fun.
1.Latin America has made huge progress in getting women into government, why is violence still such a large problem in your opinion?
I think nowadays there is
still a problem of violence to women due to that, women dont count with
that security to stand up and talk by her self. Women feel weak, without someone that could take their back. So it is a big problem because when women show insecurity, men think that they are useless and they think that a woman is not able to govern a country because they are not strong enough for that.
2.What steps can be taken to improve the situation for women in Latin America?
I think first they can change their education. With education we can guarantee that the women that
have been abuse or something like that will have the security and strength enough .They will also look up for a place were they can be safe, and even know the difference between good and bad. They can also create centers where victims can be supported economically and
psychologically. Also they can create a program where
police and other authorities are trained to deal with situations linked with gender violence or be able to give security to the women´s in their area.
3.What are some obstacles to taking these steps? In other words, if there is an obvious solution, why is it not being taken?
I think that they require money, time and effort. Education is a huge
problem in many countries, that is something we need to improve. But the main problem is that some governments don't like to waste money in education.
Mírate. ¿A quien ves? No quererse.
I am analyzing the music video for the
song "Perfect" by P!nk. In my opinion is a really good and powerful
song. It talks about a girl that has low self-steem, consumes drugs and tries
to suicide. The video is about the life of a girl who was excluded since she was little and constantly disturbed, got bad grades in school, was not understood by her parents and was forced to do things she did not want to do. This girl felt inferior to the rest of the other girls that were thinner and prettier than her. There is a part of the video which is very emotional, when the girl is in the bathroom, cutting herself and wants to commit suicide, that part of the video matches the the lyrics that says: Why do we do that? Why do I do that? Why do I do that?. And then she gets up and realizes that she must move on. Then she grows up and show all her feelings through art. She met her husband, and later they have a beautifull daughter, who is always reminded how beautiful and perfect she is.
The video transmits many feelings and emotions. I think there are many girls or guys who feel that way right now, being victims of bullying, for their physical appearance, their wealth or poverty and much more. It is sad to know that there are people who feel inferior about their physical appearance, but the thing they really don't know is that real beauty is found in the soul and not in the face or body. Many times these people need to be told how important they are, but instead of getting this kind of feedback, there are people ho make them feel worst. I feel very identified with this video and this song, especially because of the meaning it has on me. I discovered this song when I was going through probably one of the worst moments I've ever lived. I've never come to the idea of wanting to kill myself or something, but many people do and we need to help them.
