Gender Violence

1.Latin America has made huge progress in getting women into government, why is violence still such a large problem in your opinion?

• I think nowadays there is still a problem of violence to women due to that, women dont count with that security to stand up and talk by her self. Women feel weak, without someone that could take their back. So it is a big problem because when women show insecurity, men think that they are useless and they think that a woman is not able to govern a country because they are not strong enough for that.

2.What steps can be taken to improve the situation for women in Latin America?

•    I think first they can change their education. With education we can guarantee that the women that have been abuse or something like that will have the security and strength enough .They will also look up for a place were they can be safe, and even know the difference between good and bad. They can also create centers where victims can be supported economically and psychologically. Also they can create a program where police and other authorities are trained to deal with situations linked with gender violence or be able to give security to the women´s in their area.

3.What are some obstacles to taking these steps? In other words, if there is an obvious solution, why is it not being taken?

•    I think that they require money, time and effort. Education is a huge problem in many countries, that is something we need to improve. But the main problem is that some governments don't like to waste money in education.
